Nicoletta graduated with honours from Fine Arts at Langara College, Vancouver, B.C. Canada. She also completed a years study in Literature and Psychology. She then received a BFA from the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design.

While at NSCAD she grew interested in goldsmithing and moved to Germany to study gold and silver smithing. On returning to Canada she undertook a goldsmithing apprenticeship in Vancouver. She returned to her own studio in 1986 and has since continued to work primarily with watercolour and chalk pastel.
